The foundation laying ceremony for the perimeter fence at Eziora Central School, Ozubulu, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, the first school in Ozubulu, took place today amidst excitement and high hopes for improved security and infrastructure.
The event marked a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to revamp public mission schools across the area.The initiative is part of the broader developmental agenda of the Ekwusigo Local Government to create a safe and conducive learning environment for students.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Hon. Chimezie Obi, commended stakeholders of Eziora Central School, the community philanthropist for their commitment to educational development.
He noted that the fencing project is essential in protecting the lives and property of both students and teachers. Hon. Obi emphasized the importance of school infrastructure as a key component in delivering quality education and pledged continued support to similar projects across the local government.
Furthermore, Hon. Obi charged the management of mission public schools, particularly priests and reverend fathers overseeing such institutions, to prioritise the schools and raise their standards to meet current educational demands.
He stressed that while the government continues to support infrastructure and security upgrades, school administrators must also take proactive steps in maintaining discipline, quality teaching, and academic excellence.
While appreciating Mr governor for his relentless efforts for investing heavily in education across the state, Hon Obi urged all the management of mision public schools to collaborate closely with stakeholders of the communities and see the mision schools as their own for better results.
Hon Ikedi Odinaka, the deputy mayor of Ekwusigo local government in a specifical way appreciate Hon obi for his support and efforts in placing Ekwusigo on map. Hon Ikedi further promise to single handedly build the three modern toilet facilities for the Eziora central school, one for the male, female and that of the teachers department which is part of the plea of the school management.
The Chairman Eziora progressive union, Dr Luke okoro , the president General of ozubulu development union among other stakeholders that graced the ceremony, thanked and appreciate Hon Obi and his deputy for their timely intervention and support, pray for God’s wisdom and protection as they continue to pilot the affairs of ndi Ekwusigo.
Community members, school staff, and students witnessed the ceremony with joy, expressing gratitude for the timely intervention.
The perimeter fence will serve not only as a security measure but also as a symbol of renewed focus on education in the Ekwusigo region.
